When we arrived in the Moab area, we turned off the highway onto a treacherous dirt road up and then into a remote canyon. After a bit of rock crawling in the Robertson's Subaru, we found a nice spot off the road to camp.
Our camp was near a couple gems. First was a little area called "The Crack House" named after a nice crack in the roof of an overhang. Both Paul and I had some fun bouldering while the girls watched and spotted for safety.
The second gem was Gemini Bridges. The initial plan was to repel off said bridges, but time did not allow (I think some in the company were actually grateful for that unfortunate scheduling issue). We had fun looking into the abyss of the canyons dreaming of slack-lining from one edge to another (with harnesses of course).
The Robertsons provided a delicious tilapia and vegetable tin foil dinner for each of us. This was followed by some tea and hot cocoa.
In the morning we had a feast of a breakfast with oatmeal, eggs, and turkey bacon. Yosemite was a pretty happy camper during the trip.
Pretty much all of Saturday was spent climbing at this slab. There were some fun routes. It was also pretty close to some petroglyphs which I do a project about with my 4th grade students. Now I can say I've seen some in real life.

I'm sorry, Yosemite stole the show for me - sorry landscape, sorry Jeff, sorry Ressa, sorry Paul, sorry Marnie. Wow - she looks as old as Hannah. Really lovely pictures!!
ReplyDeleteI had already tho't what I was going to comment before I saw Mom's comment. My comment was going to be... "As captivating as the scenery, vistas and photos of climbing are Yosemite tops them all."
ReplyDeleteI will add one more comment about something that isn't quite correct in the verbiage of the post. In a couple of days a new post will explain.
