We had all kinds of wild folks stopping by to welcome in the new year.

  2. How can you BEAR it!!! How does this get posted so casually as if it happens everyday. I guess after the first one it is old news. But I wanted more details on how and when it was discovered. We may think twice coming to visit the cornwall zoo.

P.S. If you have noticed the number of views are high we are to blame. You put such a fun song on and it was so short that Bennett wants to watch it over and over again and give him a big hug

Casual you say? Well let me tell you. It was Sunday evening - when garbage cans are full, before garbage pick-up day, so many cans are already on the street (i.e. Mr. Bear doesn't have to wander into backyards. He has a smorgasbord on the curb) Jeff was running in and out of the house getting ready to drive back to Provo early the next morning. Jeff came running in, with a very excited Jeffrey voice, announcing there is a bear in the back yard.

After observing Mr. Bear go down our driveway and into our neighbor's yard we called 911. 911 Operator: "What is the nature of your emergency?" Dad: "Is It okay to call 911 when Mr. Bear is in your backyard?" 911 Operator: "Is this in the vicinity of Ivy and Hillcrest?" Dad: "Uh, yeah." 911 Operator: "Where exactly is the bear, and which way is it headed?" Dad: "Uh, Mr. Bear is in the three hundred block, headed south. Just went in our neighbor's backyard." 911 Operator: "Okay, when we have an officer that is free we will send a car over." Dad: "Okay, thanks."

About an hour later we noticed two police cruisers stopped side by side in the middle of the street just below 336 panning front yards with their spot lights.

The next morning, too bad for those who had their New Year's ham bone in their garbage can out on the curb. Their cans were tipped over and garbage spread all up and down in front of their house.

Please, don't hesitate to come, any time to the Cornwall zoo. It's sure to be filled with all kinds of exciting surprises.

p.s. If Bennett would like more of the song I added a link "Mr Bear Song" at the bottom of the post.

  4. I think that bear is bigger then the bear we saw at the San Francisco Zoo. I will admit that I would have been scared out of my mind if I had been Jeff.
