Sarah and Jeff came up Friday evening and Saturday. Note Jeff's official "Edgemont" t-shirt.
We went on the traditional walks down the lane. (We didn't even go by the rickety bridge tho')
Mom and Dad went on a morning walk one day and came across a momma moose and her baby taking a rest during their morning walk. (This is above uncle Mel's cabin.)
On one of our many drives down the canyon we drove by the former Hodgkinson cabin in Midway. The new owners have painted the siding red and put a roof extension over the front deck.
It's always fun to do a bit of improvements and repairs while up the Weber. The water supply enclosure got fixed up.
Dad decided it was time to do a proper handle replacement job on the antique wheelbarrow. All the boys wanted to join in on the project.
We replaced one of the rotted porch rails and a broken stair tread on the "back" porch.
But there was still time for a little fun --- games at night and floating the wide flowing river in the heat of the day. Mom and Dad had their own float on Friday afternoon and then Sarah and Jeff joined in on Saturday. It was the most water for August in memory.
Did we say the river was a little chilly at first?
It was a fun, wet, cold river especially for a couple of old troopers like Mom and Dad.
Mom enjoyed hanging out with her baby girl and baby boy.
The Dave Cornwalls were invited up on the weekend. They joined us on Saturday evening through Sunday. All 6 came + a friend of Lizzie's, a turtle, a dog and for good measure they invited a neighbor boy (from O. Lewis) to spend the night.
Jeff found a way to cross the river without getting wet and cold.It was rare August that Jeff and Sarah floated clear down from starting a Mel's.
Oh it was a fun week. We missed the rest of you, but enjoyed time with the Provo kids. We were glad that Jeff could come for 24 hours after a first big week of school. Looks like he had enough fun for a couple new facebook profile pictures. The cabin continues to be my favorite spot on earth.
ReplyDeleteI am officially CABIN homesick. This is probably the first summer of my life that we didn't make it to the cabin.
