STAKE YOUTH CONFERENCE 2011
Arcadia Stake Youth Conference began on Friday, June 24 with meeting "families", activities, a key note speaker and learning all about and how to be a 'flash mob'.
As always, the Stake YM/YW leaders (notable Sister Hicks) provide wonderful meals throughout the weekend. Friday evening included a dance to which Glendora Stake was invited.
Saturday started bright and early with a longish drive transporting the youth to San Diego
First stop was the Mormon Battalion Visitor's Center.
The presentations in the Visitors Center are outstanding. Mormon battalion volunteers are still being mustered and outfitted.
The entire presentation is very interactive and high-tech with talking photos, and like-you-are-there scenes as you move through the story.

After the Visitor Center tour we moseyed across the street is Old Town San Diego.
Then it was off to lovely Mission Bay.
It was a 'tough' job keeping all those youth actively involved and having fun.
Dinner was over the coals on the beach with dozens of hamburgers, hot dogs and s'mores.
One of the highlights of Youth Conference was the FLASH MOB. Sarah - yes our own Sarah Lehny planned, conceived, track compiled, choreographed, taught and inspired the whole group. It was performed at the Old San Diego Town Square.

ReplyDeleteGreat idea Robb - when can we do it family???? You should have seen Sarah in action. She was so amazing from beginning to end. I was so happy to get to go along for the ride. It was a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThat. Was. Awesome. Sarah, you did a superb job. Great great music choices. It was a good variety of styles and with well known songs. There was no Beatles, but you did have the Beach Boys which is second best. The dance moves were fun and simple enough for anyone to learn. Dad, great job on the videos. Good job with the multi-cam editing. I loved the inclusion of the shots of the crowd especially that little boy. I wish I went to youth conference this year!
ReplyDeleteJeff: Thanks to Mike Miller for the crowd shots. He shared his HD footage with me of which I was able to include a lot.
