Today is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Gordon B. Hinckley. Ten years ago, on his 90th birthday, my seminary class from that great Class of 2000 (shown above) decided to honor him by sending him a package containing their testimonies, and this picture. With those items we sent a description that told him we are standing in front of a black walnut tree that we planted in his honor. (You can barely see it - it was about pencil size in diameter and is just a few feet above Victor's head.) Since many of my students from that year check this blog I decided to show how much that tree has grown. I only hope our testimonies have grown along with it. Love you class of 2000!!!Wednesday, June 23, 2010

How cool! I love that the class sent a package to the Prophet. I had no idea that the tree in that parking lot was planted in honor of him. So neat.
ReplyDeleteHope you are doing well Sis. Cornwall! I miss you!
Wow Wow Wow!! 1st Wow for the size of the tree and the amount that it has grown over the last 10 years that is really cool to look back on that. 2nd Wow is for how I looked 10 years ago, Mb said she likes the 2010 version of me better. The 3rd Wow is for how I looked 10 years ago.(Yes I did mean to put the same thing twice.)
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting Mom
We love the sideburns Robb!!! Love the comments from former seminary students -keep them coming!!
ReplyDelete1. What a clever idea!
ReplyDelete2. I love the flashback photo, makes me think to where I was 10 years ago...
Amazing! I had forgotten about that tree. What a great idea. I sure do miss President Hinckley...now I will think of him whenever I see the tree!
ReplyDeleteI loved seminary. I really loved it and that was when I learned to love the scriptures. You were always a fantastic teacher and I still remember several very specific things that you taught us.
My last thing to say is, let's all have a little chuckle over David's hair...it wouldn't have surprised me if we had seen bleached hair on Robbie and Victor too in this picture. I think maybe even on David Rash if I'm remembering right? and, I can't believe it's been 10 years!
