A few weeks ago Robbie and I went to the Iwo Jima Monument. I have passed it a few times and always wanted to go. So we had a little picnic date one night!

It has always been one of my favorite monuments. Its so powerful!

This reminded me of my Grandfathers who have both passed on but both fought in multiple wars and fought for our country. I have a picture just like this of my grandmother holding the flag after my grandfathers funeral.

We tried out Robbie's new Football cooler that I got him for his birthday!

We had chicken salad, powerade and grapes! It was delicious!

It was a very fun date!
How close is Iwo Jima to your house? MB you look so cute and that little boy is growing and where did you get that cooler box? It is a classic.
ReplyDeleteLoved all of it, especially the mom in the pink shirt (and the boy by the cooler). Do you know why they put a replica of that statue in CT??
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought, you must have just missed Jeffers in D.C. (where THE Iwo Jima statue is placed near the Pentagon). Then when I saw the names inscribed on black marble... and I had just been talking with Jeff about his photographing the Vietnam Memorial last week (and Jeffrey knows so much about it and the artist that he found himself being an impromptu tour guide). But then I saw the scale or YOUR statue with you in front of it and figured it must be a CT version (in Newington?). The statue in DC is gi-normus and in a round-a-bout. Anyway... it was fun to see you cute folks and the nice photos.
