Meeting Neil A. Andersen

Sister Terrill gave me the opportunity to meet an apostle today. Dad had meetings with Elder Andersen all morning, we fed him lunch and currently (Saturday night) dad is at a young adult fireside with him tonight. I was thinking I have met a few apostles - President Monson when he came to our stake, President Uchtdorf when he came to our stake, Elder Dallin H. Oaks when I gave the opening prayer at the BYU devotional (there were a few perks for working in the Religion department), Elder Holland when dad was put in the Stake Presidency, Elder Bednar when we were taking Jason back to BYU-I after his mission and today - Elder Andersen. I look like I was asleep in the picture above - but I was having a wonderful time with wonderful people. Dad got in on the kitchen action - he is always an asset along with some wonderful hard working women and Brother Chris Reed and SAM!!! Thanks for the pictures Sister Terrill.

  1. Mom and Dad what a special day and I am sure that lunch was delicious. Mom it is obvious I have been an Anderson for a while now because as an Anderson you pay a lot of attention to the "son" vs "sen" and our dear apostle is "sen."

  2. Let me just say that Sister Cornwall was the driving force behind the success of our lovely luncheon!! I'm thinking of nominating her to be my 5th counselor - after my husband and Noah!! (At least for the dinners and luncheons!!)

She is one talented lady - who lovingly and willingly shares her gifts!

  3. Thanks for the update Katie - you would notice that if you were a "son",

  4. Fam: Mom was glorious. She is someone of whom to be very proud. From the menu, trial & testing, to the preparation, to the shopping, to the cooking, baking and presentation, Mom was the key figure in much, if not most of it. Then with Sister Terrill's great team it was all assembled and beautifully served. The tender pork loin medallions were spectacularly yummy, especially with the drizzled apricot sauce.

One of the most telling tales that came from yesterday is this - toward the end of the luncheon, desert had been served. Elder AndersEn was standing, addressing the Stake Presidents and their wives, with his razzleberry pie in hand (served warm, alamode with Mom's latest/greatest Lion House crust). He took a small bite and continued talking. Then suddenly interrupted himself to say, "Wow! This pie is REALLY good." Many came in the kitchen afterward to praise the excellent (can't buy it at any price) meal they had just enjoyed. I was on dish scraping duty, and let me tell you, there was not a lot of food bits left on plates to scrape off. Kids: your Mom is a wonder. (And Sarah and I get to enjoy her culinary gifts EVERY day.

  5. BAhahahaha. The church MUST be true if that man is wise enough to know a good thing when he's got it.

And oh mother, how I wish I could have been there with you, but you are truly incredible, even without me around.
