Our last full day in London. It was my roommate's birthday, so we got up early and grabbed her a slice of carrot cake from the same bakery we went to all week.

For lunch I just had to eat here. If I couldn't bring myself to Cornwall, I figuredI may as well bring Cornwall to me. I ordered the typical pasty, and it was fantastic.

I'm not really sure of the pirate connection actually.
This is a shot of Trafalgar square from the National Gallery (which was amazing.)

One of my favorite things that I did was attend the Borough's Market. It's the most amazing thing - there is every kind of food vendor, and they've all got samples of delicious things like olive oil + basil-flavored balsamic vinegar, loads of jams, plenty of cheese, cheese sticks, and pestos. I was in heaven.

The presentation of everything was just so fantastic.

Those are sausages.

The market was pretty much shoved into alleyways between these lovely buildings/churches. It made for a very cool atmosphere to test out some very british nourriture.

I loved London and would love to go back someday . . . to live for a bit at least.

The people are so much friendlier than the french. But I confess that I'm elated to be back.
Great photos. I especially like the final English bloke. I'm glad to see a shirt and tie for purveyors of British sausage. That is so English. Nice touch on the Cornwall Pastries, Sister Cornwall.
ReplyDeleteAh, your lovely trip to London. It seems you kept your cup full and drank deeply of the English spirits that intoxicated you and have you wanting to come back for more. As previously mentioned I still have a touch of that myself, now well stirred up.
Great report on a great trip. I'm glad that you enjoyed it so much. Sorry to talk about the food - but I was wondering what was in the woodish containers above the cheese and sausage?
ReplyDeleteChocolate truffles, lots and lots of chocolate.
