Bear-ly A Dull Moment...



This morning dad noticed trash all across the back yard. He knew it wasn't our usual foothills wild animals because the black garbage can was tipped over. I was pretty shocked when Robbie called me at seminary and said there was a bear in our back pecan tree. He had brought his car in to change the oil before they left for Utah and while on his back, under his car, he noticed a large paw dangling down and beat it into the house to protect Marybeth. I called the police on my way home from seminary and an animal control officer and a police officer were there then I got home. Marybeth was quick with the camera and so we were able to document our bear visit. When the bear scampered off the officers said - well, it's not your problem any more. I have seen the officers several times today around the neighborhood. No trips to the garbage can after dark for me for awhile!!!

    Apparently the call of the wild is going loudly forth from the backyard of 336... that, and/or the irresistible scent of Mom's discarded leftovers. I don't think the skunk-possum-raccoon trap is going to take care of this critter.

    Wow!! That was really impressive. Paisley loved that movie, she thought the bear was very cute. You guys could open a zoo with all the variety of creatures in your backyard!

    p.s. The shooting officer is using a tranquilizer gun, just in case any of you were worried for the bear.

    All four girls crowded around the laptop to watch that one! Wow!
    They couldn't believe a bear was RIGHT WHERE THEY PLAYED!

    It seems like my commentary might have been a little louder than necessary when making the video!! Just kidding. I was pretty scared as you can all tell when I said, "Just shoot it" and "did she get it?" Oh good times. Robbie really did save my life! My hero!

    I can't believe you had a bear in the yard #1, and #2 that you got such great footage of it. What an exciting moment for the family.
