So Jeff and I were returning some of his books, and lo and behold, who else is there, standing in line, ready to return some of her books? Sister Susan Winder Tanner!
We saw her just as we were walking out. But yes, I had the guts to go up and identify and talk to her. Jeff will attest that I was nervous, but she has such a sweet spirit about her that even introducing myself, I got a bit weepy. I told her what an influence she had on my life, and it's true. She is a phenomenal lady.
What a nice "celebrity(ish) sighting. Way to go Rach. What a great place to be... a place that such celebrity(ish) sightings may happen every now and then.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to BYU. One of the greatest blessings is seeing famous people in the church. I saw her doing baptisms once in the Provo temple but I didn't have enough guts to say hello. Way to go Rachel.
ReplyDeleteMerci, Merci!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you took advantage of two things - one is being in a place and/or reading things where she could have been an influence on you - and taking the time to tell her. I'm not a "young" woman, but the things she taught had a profound influence on me too.
