This morning as I went from the car to the house after seminary the sweetest smell wafted my way. It is that glorious time of the year when both of the orange trees on the south side of the driveway are in full bloom. There is nothing like it. It brings a giant smile to my face. One of the greatest memories I have is this time of year 9 years ago right before my dad died - he asked if he could come and soak up the sun in California. He spent many days that week on the back porch commenting on the smell of those orange blossoms and the beautiful surroundings in Southern California. I wish I could bottle the smell to share with you - but you will all have to be satisfied with this picture.

The Sweetest Smell

GREAT POST MOM!!!! Sometimes I think we get so caught up in life we don't appreciate the simple beauties from our Heavenly Father. I wish I were sitting on the back porch with you!!!
ReplyDeleteGrandpa H. was always one to "smell the roses/orange blossoms". I always admired his unhurried manner and proclivity to go up a certain street or around a certain corner to see some flowers or a tree in bloom. He had a genuine sense of enjoyment from those (as Katie says) simple beauties.
ReplyDeleteI can't help but think of grandpa h whenever I smell that delicious fragrance; it is absolutely intoxicating!
